During last “Ask Cat” episode, we had a question regarding infections of the blood. It has been a while since I did a show just on infections, so that’s what this week’s show is all about.

Bacterial infections are getting more difficult to treat. You may not hear much about it in the news, but antibiotic resistance continues to worsen. Our media stays fixed upon politics, while the majority of people forget that antibiotics are becoming less effective. Learning about herbs with antibiotic actions has never been more important.

Think about what a world without reliable antibiotics would look like. Antibiotics make modern surgery possible. Routine surgeries like cesarean sections and tonsillectomies could mean death from infection, regardless of the surgeon’s skills.

Common infections, like strep throat, UTIs, bronchitis, cellulitis, all require antibiotics. Lyme disease requires antibiotics. Even relatively small cuts can become infected and lead to lymphangitis, as well as sepsis. Sepsis is a condition that gets into the blood stream, attacks organs, and causes a dangerous immune system response. Sepsis deaths are on the rise specifically due to antibiotic resistance.

Antibiotic resistance is something I wrote about in my book, Prepping for a Pandemic. While I agree that stocking up on “vet meds” is a good idea, we need other options for when antibiotic drugs no longer work. Herbs can offer those options. But, you have to know what to use, when to use them, and how to use them. Working with herbs against infections is not like popping a pill.

It could take between ten to twenty years to see a new generation of antibiotics hit the market if drug companies were to start research and development today. Unfortunately, that’s not happening because that is not where their profits are made.

Even if the economy does not collapse, there’s no EMP, and none of the things we prep for were to come to pass, antibiotic resistance will continue to pose a grave threat. This episode will help you prepare for that threat with antibiotic herbs.
