Rio Social Threats & The Pick List!

This week on the 7 P’s of Survival Show we will have two topics for discussion. 1) The Rio Summer Olympics and the security, economic, medical and social threats that could lead to disruptions and even a potential terrorist attack. 2) What I like to call my “Pick List” or in other words the things you would pick up using the money on your person if a large scale disaster just took place while you were at a store or near a store.

When it comes to the Rio Olympics there was already one suspicious package destroyed that we have been told about. Now how about the hundreds of protests, interference with the running of the Olympic torch, and much more.

Here are just a few of the issues I plan to talk about during the show. The area has contaminated water, the beaches are 1000x dirtier than the worst New Jersey beach. The  Zika Virus is a constant threat. Polluted water, poor standards for food preparation, poor drinking water conditions. Also a political environment that is spiraling downward and out of control. A country of people who simply don’t want the Olympics in their town, one of the most dangerous neighborhoods to live in the world. A massive drug problem, and that is just scratching the surface of the issues at the Rio Olympics.

On a high note… A young lady from West Virginia University who
just helped her air rifle team win a National Championship this year won the first gold medal of the Olympics. Let’s Go Mountaineers!

The second topic is going to me more of an introduction to the concept of thinking about disaster scenarios before they occur. For me that means what am I going to spend the cash, checks and credit card money that people will take in a TEOTWAWKI type of event before all of those things are no good. Which if it is that type of event you only have a few hours at best to act. For me this most likely would be perishable items, lots of beef jerky, gasoline, possible isolation and building materials and things to that effect. This list is different for everyone and more than likely would change daily based on the amount of cash you have available and how your level of preparedness has changed over time.
