Teaching Kids to Fish – Survival for a Lifetime! with The Next Generation
As the old saying goes, “Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day – teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime.”
At a surface level, the act of fishing seems simple enough. Put some bait on a line and cast it off and within a few seconds you’ll be ready for dinner – right? Well, the reality can be a bit different.
Fishing is a skill like any other. It is something anybody can do around the world. And as a survival skill it is somewhere near the top on the list. This old saying is one that captures survival, fishing, skill-building and the teacher/student philosophy in few words.
This week on The Next Generation show, we are joined with James Walton over at I Am Liberty Show. We will be talking fishing, of course. But more importantly we’ll be talking about the greater meaning of teaching others to fish, the benefits of knowing how to fish, and the importance of using your fishing skills to provide for yourself and others.
Beyond that, we’ll be looking at other survival skills that can benefit from a solid foundation – both learned and shared. Many of these skills are handed down from generation to generation and as parents, it’s important to recognize the moment you become the teacher so that your kids may eat – and survive – for a lifetime.
