David McIntyre from History Channels Alone
Josh “The 7P’s of survival”
This episode we have David McIntyre from History Channels Alone on the show and we talk about his life’s journey leading up to his choice to take part in ALONE. Once we learn a little about his background we dig into what he decided to take on the show, why he made those decisions and why he thought they would be most effective. David McIntyre is a post-apocalyptic fiction writer from rural Pennsylvania. He developed a keen interest in wilderness survival and primitive skills as a teenager and spent many of his early years hunting, fishing, trapping and hiking the Appalachian Mountains. As an adult, he took this passion and traveled to Belo Horizonte, Brazil, where he founded the Per Ardua Wilderness Ministry and the Bushmaster Wilderness Survival School. David has practiced wilderness survival in the Appalachian forests, Alaska, Brazil’s Atlantic Rainforest and in tropical Alpine ecosystems, just to name a few. In fact, he says he never feels comfortable living in a new location until he has survived in the area’s wilderness. David McIntyre now lives in Michigan with his three children (14, 17 and 24) and is looking forward to exploring the temperate rainforest of Vancouver Island.
The thirteen episode series places ten hardcore survivalists alone on northern Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The contestants have one mission: to stay alive. There are no camera crews, no teams, and no gimmicks. At stake is a $500,000 cash prize awarded to the person who can last the longest. Equipped only with limited gear, their wilderness experience, and cameras to self-document their journeys, these brave men and women are completely separated from one another in harsh, unforgiving terrain. To survive, they must find food and water, build shelters and fend off predators. They will face extreme isolation, psychological distress, and treacherous environmental conditions as they descend into the unknown.
