“Gardening with Emma”

As Parents we hope to be able to teach our children skills that will take them further. Steven Biggs has seem to achieved that on a level that is truly inspiring. He has been able to share his passions with his children and from that he has three amazingly creative children each with their own desires and skill sets that echo the dedication Steven put forward to teaching them. This father and daughter duo are absolutely amazing. Emma Biggs, a 13yr old, raised over 130 tomato varieties in her Toronto(Yes! CANADA) garden in 2018 while gardening in containers, in straw bales on a driveway, in a neighbour’s yard, and on her garage roof. Her latest book, Gardening with Emma, helps kids find the fun in gardening (and helps adults remember how much fun gardening is!) Emma blogs about tomatoes for Harrowsmith magazine, and is the co-host of The Garage Gardeners Radio Show and the From Dirt to Dishes gardening channel on YouTube.

This Young lady is making a difference, she has written a book with her father that aims to the younger audience but is able to get the attention of anyone who picks it up. Colorful, detailed, and plenty of images to show you exactly what is being discussed. It is a book that you will find yourself and children completely enthralled with.

Emma’s dedication does not stop with just a garden of her own. She even teaches workshops, reaching out, teaching and engaging kids into learning about gardening. This fearless young woman is already driven to spread the skills and share how much fun gardening can truly be. She has taken the extra plants and tomatoes from her garden and given back to the community, by sharing with her neighbors and to people in need.

Emma is a young lady with drive, dedication and passion. A suburban lifestyle that has very limited space. Not Only does she grow her favorite plant of tomatoes, but some many other varieties that I have actually never heard of.

During this interview with Steven and Emma, I learned quite about. I learned some things about the Currant and gooseberry that In never knew before. They spoke about Microgreens and which ones where their favorite. It was great to see them both share a common passion but still have very different taste. She even discussed how she gardens so many plants in such a limited space.

If you missed the live show then go back and listen to the audio. I know there will be more to see from this young lady, so keep your eyes peeled. Her book “Gardening with Emma” Is available on Amazon as well as now listed in out Bookstore here on prepperbroadcasting.com, also check your local Tractor supply. I have been able to find her book at just about every location. Also check out the links posted below she has stared on Tv, has a youtube and even co-host a radio show. Is there nothing this young lady can’t do?

Here is the best part, Neither Emma or Steven had heard the term Prepper before. Neat to see a family “Prepping” and teaching some skills without realizing that there is a community trying to do a fraction of what they do on a daily and without evening knowing it.
