We have a special guest on this show to talk about bushcraft among other things. There is something mesmerizing about the art of bushcraft and having the ability to manipulate the world “in the bush” the way that a well seasons practitioner can.

Maybe this skill is so interesting because of the fact that most of us are just so unfamiliar with the woods. Going into the woods is like some sort of alien journey. We are much more adapted to artificial light, poor posture, artificial air and being crammed in close with one another for hours at a time. Of course, we have to be tricked into these types of living conditions. Bribed is the better word. We are bribed into this strange human factory lifestyle by the allure of convenience.

Craig Avery is a military veteran, Boy Scout of America leader, father of four, husband of 21 years, spiritual leader, life coach, consultant, and mentor. Through WG BUSHKRAFT, Craig combines his knowledge and passion of Bushcraft with the art of leadership, and science of mental toughness.

At WGBK we practice the skills needed to survive in the bush, hills, swamps, and desert; and create the gear that makes this most easily possible. We are Bushcraft apprentices, committed to refining acquired skills and creating new innovations. “Bushcraft is about thriving in the natural environment, and the acquisition of the skills and knowledge to do so. Bushcraft skills include firecraft, tracking, hunting, fishing, shelter-building, navigation by natural means, the use of tools such as knives and axes, foraging, water sourcing, hand-carving wood, container construction from natural materials, and rope and twine-making, among others.”
