The Prepper Rant!

I may be on my Soap Box a bit but a lot of “myths” or plain false-hoods have been told about prepping, from both sides, preppers and non-preppers. There is so much misinformation out there it is unbelievable, akin to a room for experts and no one knows how to change a light bulb. Now I am not insulting preppers but I have seen a turnaround in so called questions to expertise in this field. Arm chair commandos as you might say. It can get people hurt or even killed in certain situations.

I admit when I first started I was one of these people. I read so much on the subject of prepping that I thought I knew it all. You learn over time when you give advice that this can affect people and we need to actually only speak on stuff we know. Take for example, I hear it all the time “I can survive out in the woods on my own”. This is one of the hardest things we can do, surviving is not as easy as one may think. Procuring food, shelter, water, and protecting yourself seems like it can be easily done, but alas the reality is much different. I think we have watched way too many shows like Alone, Survivorman or others similar. Not knocking those shows for what they are, but we should not get our skills from said programs.
I am not just ranting on preppers, I am also talking about those that are non-preppers that criticize all of the preppers for being “paranoid” or “unstable”. I think this is a major issue with us and much blame comes from stuff like Doomsday Prepper shows that put us in a bad light. I think the main thing we need to do is educate. Most of us go on the offensive and then become defensive of things we know we should do but because others do not agree we get angry. I think we all need to think a bit differently when it comes to this. So I talk about both sides and see if we can maybe shed some light on this subject, as always enjoy the show!
