New Year’s Day has come and gone already….. as the New Year arrives and begins there are always thoughts of change, perhaps renewal and growth. Winter in the northern hemisphere at least has always been a time of respite, rest, rejuvenation from the passing year. Our ancestors new this to be the time before great change and so it is that we still connect the New Year with that of changes, celebrated with claims or resolutions. Truth be told resolutions all revolve around a common core.. CHANGE… something is going to change or should. Now then, how do you feel about that? What’s your natural tendency to feel about change? Do you embrace it, resist it, ignore it, or perhaps do you even ignore it? An ostrich sticks it’s head in the sand, how about you? The one thing we know is that change is the one constant.

Change affects every part of our lives. There are different types of change, desired change, guided change and unforeseeable change. Change that we move willingly toward, change that happens whether we want it or not and finally the one that catches us totally off guard, putting our coping skills to the test, literally. Change is fickle! Wanted and Unwanted! Talk about the red-headed step child, change can definitely fit the bill.

Preparedness is all about change in many different ways, including all three types of desired, guided and unforeseeable, but preparing for change whatever type it maybe is the real key to loving that red-headed step child named CHANGE.
