Homestead Bliss: Balancing all that weight on your shoulders
On this episode of the Homestead Honey Hour: Balancing all that weight on your shoulders with Renée aka MichiganSnowPony
Chances are, if you homestead, you also engage in several (or even all) of the following activities: Work off-farm, have a family, take care of livestock, keep a large garden, preserve and put up your own food (and maybe feed for your animals as well), heat with wood, home-school, run a home-business, are involved with your community and/or church, prep for the future, and hopefully pursue a few hobbies and interests in your spare time.
Ha — What spare time?!?
So, how DOES one manage it all? Where does that goal of getting back to the land and SIMPLIFYING one’s life come into play on the modern homestead when you, the homesteader, have so many other obligations? How do you live the rural “good life” without losing your sanity in the process?
Let’s talk about not just having it all, but MANAGING it all. Join me, Renée, as I discuss the reality of the situation versus the romanticized myths of a rural lifestyle and give you some advice in finding your own bliss on your farmstead. And why, despite the juggling act and hard work, homesteading IS the ideal life for the prepper and anyone else who desires more choices, more freedom, and more fulfillment in their life.
We’ll discuss how to share the work load, how to keep that less-than-homesteading-enthusiastic spouse happy, involving the children in a positive, productive way, living by the seasons, options to generate some homestead income in the process, recognizing your limits, how to get away for a vacation, and so forth.
Homesteading: It’s not always easy, but it is always worth it!
