Why we homestead on The Homestead Honey Hour. Is it because we want to be more self-reliant? We want a better quality life for our family? We want to prepare for emergencies or because we want to be a more in-depth participant in the circle of life? We all have our reasons for storing water, putting in gardens, stocking our pantries and raising livestock. And there are as many reasons as there are people who act on them.
For me personally..I have gone through a shift in my life..I want to live a more traditional life. Why? Because for me, simpler is better, healthier and makes me happier. But also because I want to help bring back the knowledge of a simpler time..when quilts were not just blankets for warmth but works of art. When canning made sense because it was economical and made you feel good because you had food put by for winter! When milking a goat and drinking it raw and chilled was a healthy practice..not a criminal offense. I want to be a part of bringing BACK a way of life that makes sense. This is why we homestead.
