Exploration and Navigation on The Next Generation
Exploration and curiosity are some of the many gifts that children share with us as parents and adults. I remember encouraging my own kids with scavenger hunts and road trips and navigation exercises.
And as they grow older, they’ll come to realize the value of simple navigation techniques. Whether they roam the planet, climb the company ladder or navigate city streets, basic survival skills like navigation will help them succeed for the rest of their lives.
This week, we speak with special guest Justin Miles, an author and world explorer who has developed a few books designed for kids to help hone this skill. Justin survived a crippling auto accident and had to retrain his entire body.
Now, Justin sets out to explore the world in a different way: sharing his knowledge of survival and navigation with kids around the globe. He serves as a public speaker and an advocate for educational opportunities for all children. As a public speaker, he shares his message through his survival scenarios, exploration anecdotes and real-world application of basic survival skills.
He’s published a few books which are used in classrooms around the world and help to expose the next generation to some of the survival tips and tricks he’s perfected over the years. We’ll be focusing our conversation on his Ultimate Mapping Guide for Kids, which is available on Amazon.
Also, don’t miss out on the Pint Sized Prepper Project of the week, where we demonstrate how you can use your back yard or garden plot as a way to teach basic elements of navigation!
