Due to current events, nuclear war has recently become a hot topic among both preppers and non-preppers alike. The Doomsday Clock published on the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists website has been moved forward to 2.5 minutes to midnight. The possibility of a nuclear attack on the US has not been such a mainstream topic in decades.

Fortunately, my good friend and frequent guest on The Herbal Prepper, Chuck Hudson, happens to be an expert when it comes to this stuff. While Chuck has graciously shared his expertise gained as a combat medic with us many times before, his primary MOS was NBC, or Nuclear Biological and Chemical. (This is now CBRN, for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear.)

Mr. Hudson was an instructor at Fort McClellen for the Primary and Advanced Chemical NCO course before retiring. Today, Chuck is a survival instructor in New Mexico. His courses are offered through his school, The Medic Shack, as well as online through Herbal Prepper Academy this summer. No doubt, most people find the prospect of nuclear war to be the most serious and nerve-wracking outcome we could face. There is a large segment of the population that simply cannot conceive of surviving such an event, and will not bother trying.

While I understand this initial reaction, I find that looking at a situation head on, getting the facts, making a plan, and identifying actionable steps to see that plan comes to fruition is the best course of action. Often, the facts show that the reality is not nearly as bleak as one might originally think.

Thankfully, many people are aware, proactive, and are seeking solid information about how to prepare for situations like nuclear war, EMPs (from high altitude nuclear explosions), as well as chemical weapons. If you are one of these solution-oriented people, make sure to listen to this episode!
