Home Security for Kids!
Home Security for Kids
Ryan Buford “The Next Generation” Audio player below
Growing up in a typical American suburb, I remember our threats outside the front door were very different compared to today. There were some outside threats that are similar today, but not nearly as many. We could do simple, everyday things to prevent wolves from crossing the threshold and causing harm. I was raised on the cusp of the latchkey generation where both parents worked and kids were expected to fend for themselves after school until either parents got home. This came with a specific set of rules to be followed and not questioned.

But the world has changed a bit since the mid-80s. Threats to kids are present in public places, schoolrooms, social media sites and the occasional predator. So, what tools do they have to defend themselves when they are out of our purview? What have we done to prepare them for the threats that seem to come closer and closer as our involvement becomes more and more distant?
Join us in player above as we dig in to the ways you can secure a household for your kids by implementing behaviors and habits that will allow them to protect themselves. We will be exploring the ways you can bolster a sense of self-worth without instilling an entitled behavior. We will be going beyond the heart of classic story “Home Alone” and exposing you to what I’m deeming the at home Kung-Fu Survival Skills that could make the difference between a kid that can handle himself in any situation and a kid who is lost at every turn.
And don’t miss out on the Pint-Sized Prepper Project of the Week where we show you a simple way to bypass a typical combination lock that can be used to guide your purchases, allow discreet access, or keep would-be criminals at bay.
