Every moment of every day, the Sun (or “Sol”, as it likes to be called) impacts every aspect of our lives. Responsible for our very existence on this rock we call Earth, it’s fascinating to think that an event that occurred thousands of years ago deep within our star is affecting us at this very moment. However, just as Sol is responsible for life on Earth in a myriad of ways, just one significant change to our solar system’s center would spell disaster for the world as we know it! What would happen if we suddenly lost the Sun’s light? How dark would it be, and how long would the darkness last? A day? A month? A decade?
Jackie, Rob, and Dom will look into ways that the Sun’s light could be temporarily or permanently blocked from the Earth’s surface, and all the disastrous consequences! Plus, what is our Sun doing to us right now that puts our civilization at risk? Our hosts will discuss all these possibilities and more, and you can too!
