Cayenne chiliCayenne pepper (Capsicum annum) is a favorite addition to many recipes and gardens all across the United States. It’s also could serve as a viable replacement for the most common medicines in the average home medicine chest.

Some of the most common medications, both with and without prescription, are:

  • cayenne hot-chilli-powderAnalgesics (pain relief)
  • Anti-Inflammatory
  • Decongestants
  • Hypotensives (medications that lower blood pressure)
  • Stomach/intestinal infection relief formulas

Cayenne does all of that, and it does it without any negative side effects, no synthetic ingredients, and no dependence upon Big Pharma.

7-5 Cayenne Tincture1For cayenne’s analgesic action, pain relief comes from the high level of a special, natural constituent- capsaicin. Almost all pungent peppers have this, but cayenne has a predictably high concentration of it, which is why it’s most often cited in relation to capsaicin.

Either taken internally or applied topically, cayenne can help too soothe achy joints and sore, overworked muscles. It does this in a number of ways.

Cayenne helps to increase circulation to bring more oxygen and new blood to injured tissue, but it also helps to interrupt the signaling of pain sensation to the brain by Substance P. Substance P is what delivers the sensation of pain, and cayenne’s constituents help interrupt that transmission. This makes cayenne an important remedy for conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, pulled/strained muscles, and neuralgia.

7-5 Cayenne 1Cayenne has impressive anti-inflammatory properties, making it a perfect choice for injured and tight muscles. If you are incorporating Massage Therapy into your prepper skill sets, you will want to include some type of cayenne massage cream into your supplies to help relax the muscle tissue.

The more the tissue is relaxed, the deeper you can comfortably work the muscle and smooth out any adhesions causing pain. This is especially helpful for rheumatic conditions, and to work on the trigger points often found in Fibromyalgia.
