Re-Inventing the Wheel? – A review of The Have More Plan

No need to re-invent the wheel, since time began man has endeavored to advance and prepare for life. Preppers, homesteaders, survivalists or whatever label you choose all have much in common. Becoming self-reliant, secure and prepared has for decades been the banner taken up by countless people. This path or gauntlet has been and is still full of pitfalls and follies all too easy to fall victim to. Today, many with a mind to preparedness and self-reliance tend to become so engrossed with what we are doing often we believe it is all a new concept, spinning our wheels attempting to re-invent what has already been learned and done. The roadmap to self-sufficiency has been plotted. Technology has advanced making changes to much of what and how we do things, so life has changed but there is no need to feel you are on uncharted ground.

The 1960’s and 1970 eras showed a marked interest and a movement of “back to the land”. Publications such as the Fire Fox series and The Mother Earth News hit the book shelves and were gobbled up eagerly by a populace eager to have more, know more and to become more independent. Even prior to these decades people yearned for more. The end of WWII found a country eager to rebuild with independence being key. The 1940’s gave birth to what we would call a “preppers or homesteaders” primer, called “The Have More Plan” This classic book written with the purpose of aiding anyone in his/her search for self-sufficiency and independence on a country acre.

This publication has and is still in demand and a mainstay for anyone seeking self-sufficiency. The final page entitled “Let’s Rebuild America” is as poignant today as it was 70 years ago.
